Brawl in Warmups Laval vs St George LNAH January 11 2015
Key members of a North American Hockey League (LNAH) franchise have been suspended until the end of the 2016-17 playoffs following a hot-tempered brawl during the pre-game warmup on Sunday.
The Laval Predators, who play in the infamously fight-happy LNAH, were involved in a melee before the puck drop on a game against the St-Georges Cool-FM. Predators co-owner Eric Lajeunesse, CEO Lucien Paquette and assistant coach Dannick Lessard all received two-season bans on Tuesday.
A total of 114 penalty minutes were handed out in the 6-3 Laval victory, according to the online game sheet.
However, only a two-minute penalty — a minor cross-checking penalty given to Laval’s Chris Cloutier — was assigned to the time of the opening faceoff (0:00 of the first period). Cloutier, a 31-year-old defenceman for the Predators, led all players with 21 penalty minutes. In 61 career LNAH games, Cloutier has racked up a remarkable 490 PIM. The eight-team, Quebec-based LNAH, which is considered a “low-level professional league”, is known for its outrageous behaviour, with footage of a bizarre on-ice scene going viral seemingly every other month.
Roman made a game of it in the first period but the flood gates opened in the 2nd and through the closing Bobby Abreu running minutes. Feder and Brady are right on the leader in points for the CML.
The Rams beat the Zeebs in a hard fought game in which the Rams found themselves with a 4 to 1 lead late in the 3rd. The PIM filled match got a little dicey as the Zebras got within one to make it 4-3 until R.Jones buried a power play goal to seal the Rams W 5-3. Next up Bandits this Sunday @ 9:30. Noce on Beer.
Down 4-3 with 10 minutes in the 3rd, the Rams rallied late to tie it up. Corcoran drew a late Power Play and Bill O’neill got the game winner.
WILLOW GROVE. Saturday’s game saw the Rams open up a 3-0 lead on the Bandits. The Rams Power Play failed to put the game away and the Bandits fought back to tie it 3-3 at the start of the 3rd. Bandits scored 3 in the 3rd period and handed the Rams their first loss of the season. Next up Saturday at 9:30pm.
The Rams beat the Thudner in their first match of the season 7-2 with goals from Noce (2), O’neil (2), and Feder (3). Colin also had his first PIM of the year. Next up, this Saturday vs. Bandits 3:40pm.
