The Rams, embracing their identity as a 96 beer 4th period team began watching the second half of the A-League doubleheader. The undefeated Zebras were facing off against the Penguins. It was mentioned in passing that we might want to the Zebras to win. But a couple quick goals by the Pens and the reaction of the Zebras 6-0 goalie changed the complexion of the evening.

As the second period wound down the interactions between the Rams and Zebs goalie heated up. He urged us all to stay, so we did. The team followed the short-fused goalie to the other end, “because that’s where all the goals were going in.” Danny B. had been tossed, Big White followed him a period later but this was a game where being in the stands might have been as valuable as being on the ice.

The Penguins scrapped their way to a 5-4 win, The mighty midget goaltender was now 6-1. Nothing to do now but eat some pizza and head home, right?

Nope there was at least one more lesson to be remembered this night. Even if you lose on the ice, you can win the fourth. The Zebras goalie came towards the stands were several Rams and Seravalli players loitered basking in the glow of a day well wasted. The Pappa John’s was gone, but there was still one more pop to be delivered.  Landed squarely on the nose of the still angry goalie, Seravalli had won the fourth.

General thoughts on game, write-up:

Thanks to the new guys, the Rams had 5-2 lead with 8 minutes left in the third period.

Thanks to the old guys, the Rams ended in a 5-5 tie.

New guys names are Stuart, Mike, and Clark.

Carmen doesn’t count as a new guy.

Seravalli is a really stupid hockey team name (thanks Bake)

Colin scored, but didn’t beat anyone up.

My early season 6-pack is a flawless washboard.

Rams break tie as Bake pours another beer while Seravalli leaves bar in the fourth period. Good win!

B game. Like, um, well … I can’t really remember. Oh yeah, Angry Goalie
reached a new record for injury timeouts following a headshot from RR and a
ballshot from Amos and a kneeshot from KW. The score was 7-6 in Murphy’s favor.
Flood had 2, and newby Jordan, Dean, and Amos all had one for the Rams. And then
there was what? Right. The 4th Period. Bottle recipe preferred over kegged. But,
the keg was kicked as well as flipped, turned, and tipped to get it to work.

DKane got splattered, then things got a little heated in the 3rd period and Sprinkles had to set a guy straight.  Rams with a short bench due to illness, NBA, and Baseball, beat the Revolution 3-2 with goals from T.S., Amos, and Billy Mel who made his season debut.  Next game is Wednesday the 23rd vs. Servalli.

What does this picture make you think of?  Is it Cleary vs. Halligan III,  or possibly a Weta?

Aside from the short bench, there’s only one other obvious reason for the defeat. 4th Period Ale makes its debut Sunday at 4:30 when the Rams play some B leaguers. Batch 1 is a blond ale, simple as can be, in bottles. Batch 2 is also a blond ale, but with a nicer ass and in a 5-gallon keg.

But only one of them can shoot a puck. Thanks to the Roy that can shoot a puck,
the Rams took an early 1-0 lead against the second place Thunder Saturday night.
Thanks again to Roy as the Rams went up 2-0 and again 3-2 on his goals. The last
of which came on a breakaway following intense offensive zone pressure by the
Thunder. And surely Roy is thankful that his Rams teammates tallied the next 4
goals. Two from Goal’in and one a piece from Flood and D’man Kane. Also making a
showing was the Rams new Beer Bucket.

be exact, that put the Rams up 2-0 in the first. The Bandits managed to keep it
tight before the Fire struck again. Then as things grew tighter, the Earth shook
with goals from KW and PiM Leader to put the Rams back up by two midway through
the third. The last was a breeze as Dean hit the empty netter.
