Playoffs
Editors Note: The following is a transcript between Jive Turkey (JT) and Big Head (BH). It is alleged to have taken place during beer week in Center City.
JT: Big Head is that you?
BH: Hmm? Oh, yeah. How'd you know?
JT: The head gives you away.
BH: Dammit.
JT: Ready for the CML playoffs?
BH: Yep.
JT: Who do you like to win the cup?
BH: Murphy's B.
JT: Great. How 'bout in the A league?
BH: That's a tough one. The only teams I see are the rams and penguins. But I assume those other guys drink beer. Speaking of beer, pony up and I'll give you the scoop.
JT: Care for a Genny Cream Ale?
BH: I'm outta here.
JT: Wait. How 'bout a Jaeger bomb?
BH: Done.
JT: First round matchups are Penguins and Blades. Wheat Kings and Rams. Who has the advantage?
BH: The Penguins and Blades are only separated by four points, which speaks well for the parity in the league. And the Penguins only have one more goal for. I can say the Blades are butchers. And the Penguins are Bakers. So all you need are candlestick makers.
JT: Way to talk spring league. Want another Jaeger Bomb?
BH: Yeah.
JT: How about Wheat Kings and Rams?
BH: Of all the teams in the running, the Rams are the only team to have celebrated an A-league cup win in my bar, so they have experience. And, they've given up the least amount of goals. But, never count out and eagle scout.
JT: Well put.
BH: I think I'm gonna puke.
JT: Too much Jaeger?
BH: No. Your shirt is ugly.

The Rams extend their condolences to the Bandits who lost a friend and teammate Sunday during the game. Genadij Sagaiko, the older Russian guy with the mustache, #87, had a heart attack on the bench. Teammates were able to get him to the ambulance but he died shortly after at Abington Hospital.
Sagaiko was a member of the Lithuanian national basketball volleyball and ice hockey teams. His daughter received a full basketball scholarship to Arkansas 7 years ago and he has a son living in London.

Pecks Pond 2009
We are less than 2 weeks away from the Pecks Pond Hockey Weekend Extravaganza aka: Smoke Too Much Weed And Drink Soo Much Beer That You Pass Out At The Bar And Then Puke Out The Back Door All Over The Grill And Then Piss Yourself On The Couch Weekend. Who's in? A head count will be helpful so that we can be sure to have enough food and alcohol. If you're coming up we're asking you to bring a food item or beer or to chip in for the keg. Nicole and I will be making chili, meatballs and other assorted snacks. Jones and Yashin will be bringing up a couple spiral sliced hams, although I will be surprised if the hams make it the whole ride up with those two. If someone could bring up a bunch of rolls for the meatballs and ham that would be helpful. If you have something you would like to make/bring let me know. I think we should get a half keg for Saturday and a bunch of cases for the rest of the time. Sam has suggested that you bring cans instead of bottles if possible. I will be going up this weekend to shovel the rink if necessary so if anyone would like to come up for some excersize, let me know.

Rams vs Penguins at Spectrum
Boys.....I'm getting the PHANTOMS tickets for Dec 14th this week. I'll need $90 for six tickets from each RAMS/PENS player participating in the Spectrum game that day. Dean/Atrain please find out who's in/out....we'll need 15 guys on each team good for 6 tickets. If we only have 14 (3 lines, 4d, 1g) that's fine.... We'll just need to get rid of those extra 6 tickets...which won't be a problem. We are getting 200 tix total, the down payment was paid $250 towards this $3000 total which I owe to the Phantoms 10 days prior to the event, so we owe $2750. Atrain/Hoagie....please start to collect for the Pens if you can.
I think the Pens owe the Rams $125 if i'm correct, Beef n' beer will do. Thanks!

Rams Free Agency Discussion turns to Former Rival
G-TOWN: Rams front office today released a statement that the team will begin negotiations with former rival Carmen. When asked if a move like this would start a war, A-train, spokesperson for Camen's old squad, said: "If Carm wants to be a Ram, it's his choice."
The all-time leading scorer for his alma mater Carmen will bring a scoring punch that the Rams desparately need. "He is the all-time scorer because he was in school forever," say his former teammates, but Rams front personnel see it differently. "From what I've seen," says DK, "He can actually hit the top of the net. And that means a lot to us."
The Rams hope to see Carmen at a Sunday morning BBQ where they can hash things out with he and his agent, "30-Piece".
UPDATE: Carman reportedly headed to new Russian pro league to center Jaromir Jagr.

DUI Checkpoints will be set up this weekend along Route 611 in Upper Moreland Township. They usually set up the Checkpoint along Route 611 in front of the Best Buy, between the Turnpike and Fitzwatertown Road, but they could occur along any stretch of the road.
And also....
Starting today, Pennsylvania will launch a 30 day speeding ticket
frenzy.
The
state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding
tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime. There will
be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling major intersections
and highways as well as smaller roads.
Main roads and more info after the jump.
They main roads are the following:
I-476 north and south
I-276 east and west
I-76 east and west
I-80 east and west
I-95 north and south
I-79 east and west
PA-202
PA-66
US-422
US-30
US-322
And many other roads and thoroughfares statewide.
5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is
supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes.
They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and
are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in
Pennsylvania, you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to
you how fast you are going when they clock you.
Driving Ticket fines have increased steadily in PA:
In addition, the price of a ticket for violation of PA Law 39:3-29
(failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card
at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00.
Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them. If you
jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your
license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just spent $173.
And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!

Thursday Hockey After Flyers beat Crapitals
We will watch the game and then play. Maybe pizza and beer? So start for the Skate is around 9:45pm.
Lets make it a Flyers Party! I will get some munchies.
Anyone else catch Ovechkins socceresque dive? Embarrassing! He even proceeded to be fake-hurt (just like real euro-pansy soccer players).

Please respond and let me know if you can play and your vote for where the Wood Duck Open should be held. Remember, we can’t pick too nice of a course, they won’t let us Wood Ducks on to play. Rams Season

From the desk of GM Jive Turkey.
The Championship Hangover is wearing off. So let's do it again.
Are you in?
For now, we're looking at Wintersport. Same deal as years past - 22 games. We'll need to be USA Hockey members again ($40) and the league will be around $350. Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays ... in my mind the best ice times for mens league in the area. although football fans have a hard time.
If guys have leads for sponsorships, work on it. we could use the loot. Who wants to be in charge of sponsorships? Arty? Bernie? Golin? a Three-headed monster?
We'll have the beef-n-beer, too, I imagine.
If Wintersport is turd for any reason (i.e. not enough teams) we'll move elsewhere. Skatezone Northeast has an A-league, and Icezone in Hatfield does. otherwise, it's getting a slot and inviting teams.
Tim Joyce is moving and it looks like Aldo is retiring. Although I'm not believing it. If he moves up to forward, the Z might take over. And Arty is on the DL. Bernie is skating some, but I'm not sure of a full return date (although team docs think it will be sooner than later).
New guys in the works are Bake, John, and Kierstan.
If you have any thoughts/concerns/ideas for this season, let me know.
I'm skating Thursday and hopefully Sunday. See you at Wissy.

Next Friday, May 11th, stop by Washie's Firehouse in Conshohocken (it's across the street from The Great American Pub by the parking garage). All you can eat and drink for $35 (beer, wine, soda... mixed drinks for the degenerates are extra).
It is for charity in memory of my friend's twin brother, Nello Naticchione IV, who passed away in third grade of heart failure. It's a good time, for a good cause.
Worst comes to worst, its a good start to a Friday nite... it's not hard to eat and drink your $35 worth. Hope you guys can come!

Pecks Pond Update
Brett was up to the pond over New Years and there is no ice, just a lot of water. Bummer. There has been some talk about moving the weekend getaway to Feb. 9th instead of on the 2nd because of something called the "Superbowl". does the new date works for everyone? Brett's hoping this will give mother nature time to get off her dead ass and make some ice for us to fall on (it's slippery).

No Hockey Tonight
How about a beer at Downey's at Front and South Streets?
In 1976, Jack Downey swung open the mahogany doors to his classic bar and restaurant for the first time. By doing so, he, his family, and staff were welcoming Philadelphians to a lively new dining experience at Front and South Streets.
Yeah whatever, on Wednesday nights Heather works there.
Her shift starts at 8 PM, bar-top dancing usually starts around 11. Or so I've been told.

Pecks Pond
Brett is trying to organize a weekend getaway trip to the Great White North known as the "Poconos" for some drinking, pond hockey, snowboarding, titties and any other activity one might want to partake. IBrett has a cabin at Pecks Pond which has 7 "beds" plus other various pieces of furniture to pass out on. He's had upwards of 20 persons spend the night/weekend on various occasions with little trouble. He's thinking about the weekend of Feburary 3rd, go up Friday till Sunday.
Interested, leave a comment.

Corey To Bartend
Remember that guy who used to play for the Rams. He went down to Florida to retire or something. Well it didn't stick and he's back in the 'hood. He just completed a bartending class and is behind the bar Tuesday night. And with the rest of us Penguins, Rams and Lagerheads such experts in the bar business, albeit on the stool-side, why not stop in and give him some helpful pointers.
Corey will be bartending at Spanky's Pub in Manayunk. Spanky's is located at 4630 Umbria Street. He'll be behind the bar from 6 to 10 and there will of course be drink specials.
So come on out and support one of your own in an endeavor we can all get behind.

Rams Draft Younger
Germantown - Philadelphia Rams today inked a deal with 20", 7.5 pound "Jake" Shoup, a prospect from suburban Philadelphia.
In this unprecedented move, the Rams add more depth to the lineup to survive the grueling CML schedule.
"It's a new strategy for us," said team GM Jive Turkey. "With as much drinking as we're forced to do with our schedule, we thought it would be good to have a guy that's under 21. At first we meant years, but days work, too."
Proud winger/defensemen/dad/golfer Jamie had little to say in a team statement other than, "We had a boy last friday. Pass this along to the guys."

Open Hockey Tonight At 9 PM
Don't forget there is open hockey tonight at Melody Brook.
Remember the directions, take 309 north from the Turnpike till you're pretty sure you must have missed it, then you'll see Yum Yum Donuts on your left, cross the train tracks and look for the poorly illuminated sign on your left. You can't miss it. Well you can, but if you see Hockey Heaven, you know you went too far.
Think of Melody Brook as more of a hockey purgatory. Would have said hockey limbo. But limbo doesn't exist anymore. Except at Hedonism.
That is all.

I'll be having my 3rd Annual Labor Day Party on Sunday, September 3rd. This year will feature the first ever Kensington Horseshoes Tournament. If you want to participate in the tournament, you must get there by 3:00 PM. This is because we do not want to be playing the championship in the dark. Tournament cost will be $5 per person. Teams will be picked out of a hat at 3:30 when everyone is there. The winners will receive an undisclosed amount of CASH. The amount will be determined by how participants we have. All party donations of food and drink will be accepted. If you guys know whether you can or cannot make it, give me a heads up so I know how much beer to get. The address is:
437 Cedar Street
Lansdale, PA
19446
Let me know if you need directions. Wives, girlfriends and significant "others" (Andre and Brnich) are all welcome. Feel free to forward this to anyone I missed.

Rams Update
Rams - As summer hits its stride, we are keeping the rams machine running full bore. We're working on a couple sponsorhsips and are waiting for the rink to get thier shizzle together with a new GM.
Not yet sure what the season total is going to be but we will need $ early to get the best discounts from the rink. also, the earlier we start collecting, the less we can make the monthly payments (although full boats are always welcome).
We also have a couple new guys to add, which is good news as we're losing a couple. if you have any recruits, let dean and bernie know.
Anyway, look for an email next week (from dkphilly) with as many financial details as possible, but plan
for $50 due in early august with another $100 due in September. Some guys have credit left over from last year, so don't worry we have that noted.
See you at the rink.

Fundraiser at McFadden's
As most of you may know I've been an assistant coach for St. Joseph's Prep lacrosse for the past several years. In August 2004 one of the players passed away in an automobile accident. A fund has been set up in his memory and the first event is Saturday afternoon, February 11th at the McFadden's at the Ballpark.
There will of course be lots of beer, cheesesteaks, and wings.
Details after the jump.
The 28 CLUB was founded to memorialize Pat Byrnes whose St. Joe's Prep jersey bearing that number was retired by his coaches and teammates following his untimely death in 2004. Pat's love of lacrosse has inspired his family and friends to establish a fund to support the development of the sport at St. Aloysius Academy and St. Joseph's Preparatory School.
The 28 CLUB would like you to join us for our inaugural event to help
raise money and to keep Pat Byrnes' memory alive.
The event will be 4pm-7pm Sat. Feb 11th at McFadden's at the Ballpark.
Park in the lot on Darien Street.
Tickets are $25.00 at the door and will include Cheesesteaks, Wings
and Draft Beer.
There will be a raffle (Donations are welcome) as well.
If you cannot attend a donation may be sent to Tom Byrnes:

Year in Review the Statistics
People often ask how many people really visit philadelphiarams.com. And so today we give you a peak behind the curtain and tell you some intersting statistics regarding our little web site that could.
Philadelphiarams.com is a site with a target audience of about 30 people, all of whom play for the Penguins, Rams, or Lagerheads. Despite such a small defined audience the site has become more popular than anyone could have ever imagined. People visit from Florida, Illinois, Michigan and even Europe.
In 2005 the site was visited 12,831 times, the peak being September when as the new NHL was in its ultimate frenzy we saw 2,280 visitors.
And people came with a voracious appetite for hockey news and pure goofiness, the site recorded over 145,000 page views in 2005 and saw page views grow each month.
We also seem to be an egotistical bunch as only the schedule page was visited more often than the statistics page.
In late 2005 Philadelphiarams.com started to get picked up by search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo!. It was interesting to see some of the search terms that had people landing at the site:
- carter leonards
- puck bunnies
- signs and symptoms of the sports hernia
- elisha cuthbert
- girlfriend coddaire
- jenn sterger
All in all, a very impressive year for philadelphiarams.com, and if the early January numbers are any indication, 2006 will be even bigger.

Merry Christmas
- To find an American city resembling an Indiana town of the 1940s, director Clark sent his location scouts to twenty cities before selecting Cleveland, Ohio, as the site for filming.
- Parts of the movie, including the Christmas tree shopping scene, were filmed in Toronto, Ontario. One of Toronto's trademark red trolleys can be seen driving by the shot of the outside of the tree lot.
- The St. Catharine's Museum owns the original Daisy Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action BB Gun and box used in the film, two pairs of Ralphie's glasses including the pair that was smashed, and two scripts.
- Jack Nicholson was considered for the role of Mr. Parker - "The Old Man".

Rams Might Leave Glenside
Glenside — Into waning hours of the workday Thursday, Ram’s brass, Glenside Borough Officials, and a few other drunk guys continued negotiations at Union Jacks. The objective: Keep the Rams financially solvent, thus keeping them in Glenside, and among the top 5 squads in the CML-A at Wintersport.
“It’s something every team is going to face now that our fan base has gone to the New NHL,” said a team spokesperson who requested anonymity. “We’ve lost our revenue base. This year’s beef and beer collection was short. We’re gonna have to buck up.”
Glenside mayor Paddy O’ Furniture was unavailable, and is believed to be looking for help from state governor Fast Eddie Rendell, who promised slots proceeds. In the meantime, each player is being asked to bring $65 to Sunday’s tilt vs. the maligned Hoagie City Penguins.
“this match up is always a good one. Maybe we’ll cover with the gate.”

This Saturday there is a great Christmas shopping/drinking opportunity from 1-6 PM at the Trocadero in Philadelphia.
If you need to finish or start your Christmas shopping Trunkadero table after table of interesting wares. Beyond that though is a beer tasting sponsored by Yards Brewery, a kissing booth run by the Bawdy Girls; my roommate and quizzo host extradonnaire Johnny Goodtimes; as well as Wang Newton, the gender bending Asian phenomenon who is "fresh off the boat, the ruv boat baby.
The admission is free and the beers are cheap.

In addition to the free pins there are a number of reasons to attend tonight's game.
- Will Colin try to decapitate a Zebra?
- Will Bernie blow up?
- Will the Rams be slow out of the gate after feasting on the B League?
- Will Matt remember the beer?
- Will the Rams tie again?
- Will Hurricane Schwartz ever be right?
- Will Walsh show up for a beat down?

Thor on IR; Doc Prescribes Viking Boot.
Scandinavia - The wind blows cold here at the Etchells family compound in the Scandanavian hinterland. But not as cold as the news that Arthur "Thor" Etchells will miss six weeks due to a heel spur.
"Ugh. Argh." Thor said as he spoke to GM Dean Kline via ram-horn conference. "My heel has a spur and I'm out for a while." Thor underwent treatment for the spur, which involved a 30-minute ram-manure soak, blood letting, and 6 pints of Grog, still doctors say he'll be out 6 weeks.
"Thor's condition is a rare one among his people, and made worse due to his also having swelling of the Achilles tendon," said Doctor Helmut Horn from the Leif Ericson Explorer and Rehab Center. "We've prescribed a unique boot, characterized by a reinforced heel, crepe sole, chromium tanned top grain cow hide and a seam up the back of the leg for added circulation." Doctor Horn also said a gay design at the top speeds healing.
In lieu of cards and flowers, please send raw zebra meat.

Injuries Mount as Rams Prepare to face Blades
The Rams enjoyed the first month of the season going undefeated in their first four games and were generally feeling good about themselves. But now as the first game of November approaches the injuries have begun to mount. First Snappy went out with a bad back, then Matt missed the last game with a bad shoulder. And now heading into tonight's game Art is out with what has been diagnosed as a heel spur. Adding to that is Rob Melissen out with an undisclosed upper body injury and brother Billy, whose pussy hurts. Dean Kline reacted to the injury rash with this understated response:
"Well, my pussy does not hurt and I will be there. In fact, my pussy is hot, wet, and in need of some action. And, yes, I'm bringing it to every skate I can. So when we meet up with the Zebras, Penguins, Bandits, and Continentals - and they get a good whiff of it (sniff) - they get sent home with the biggest set of blue balls those F'n whack-daddies have
ever seen."
Dean also mentioned he's be providing the beer for tonight's game. Hopefully enough for this little fella.

$20 for Beef & Beer Supplies
We need everyone to pay 20 bucks before the weekend so we can pay for beer and supplies.
Please drop it off at the pro shop as soon as possible. If you can get it here before Thursdays skate that would be great.
Everyone needs to pay even if you are not attending the event as it will benefit the team.
Any suggestions and volunteering of jobs are still welcome.
What type of beer do you all want to drink?

Ludwig's Garten Seventh Annual Oktoberfest is this Saturday from noon till 8 pm outside, and all night inside.
Always a great time, Oktoberfest closes down Sansom Street downtown between 13th & Broad. In addition to fine German beers there is always a roast pig and the finest wursts. So come on down, make a day of it, and plan on taking SEPTA home.

Wintersport Men's League Rules

Wintersport has posted their men's league rules on their web site.
The highlights include rosters are frozen after game ten, each player will must have a helmet decal displaying level of play and a serial number to keep track of players. And all players must have unique numbers on their jerseys.
LEAGUE OVERVIEW
Pre-season Game
21 game regular season, followed by playoffs
50% of teams in each division make the playoffs
All championship series are best of 3 games.
Game Times
Regular game times may include but are not limited to: Sundays
2:50PM, 4:30PM, 6:10PM, 7:35PM, 9:15PM,10:55PM; Mondays
10:50PM; Tuesdays 10:40PM; Wednesdays 9:30PM, 11:10PM;
Thursdays 10:40PM and Saturdays 8:50PM, 10:30PM
Team Rosters: Each team will be allowed a maximum of 20 players rostered. If
for any reason a player must be added or dropped from your team a form must be
completed and given to the League commissioner. Teams will be permitted to edit
their roster until their 10th game of the season. After the 10th game the rosters will
be set. All rosters must be complete and submitted to the league commissioner at
the mandatory team rep meeting. The rosters must be complete with the players
name & number. Also to be included with the roster is the name and contact information
for both the assistant and official team representative.
Helmet Tags: Every registered player will receive a helmet tag at the mandatory
team rep meeting, which will have the CML logo, year, level of play and a serial
number to keep track of players throughout the league. Any player without a helmet
sticker will not be allowed to participate in the game. If a player not wearing a helmet
sticker plays in a game, then that team will forfeit the game, and the team
rep will be suspended for one game.
Team Jerseys: It is required that all teams have a jersey and that every rostered
players’ jersey is numbered. No duplicate numbers are permitted. Each team will
have the opportunity to choose their team colors when registering. No two teams
will be permitted to wear the same colors unless they are playing in different
divisions. This will work on a first register first serve basis. With advance orders,
teams may purchase a set of twenty (20) solid color jerseys, screened & numbered
for an additional $500. If interested, please ask for more details.
Player Eligibility: All players must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the
Adult Leagues at Wintersport. Players are eligible for only one team in each Division
and are limited to playing on multiple teams within the League based on the following
rules: Teams are allowed to roster only three (3) players from the next higher
division (Example: only three ‘B’ Division players on a ‘C’ Division team.) Players
rostered on an “A” team may not play on a ‘C’ team. There will be no exceptions to
these rules to ensure fun and fair games. Penalty for violation of these rules is forfeiture
of that game and that player or players and team rep will be assessed a minimum
one game suspension. This will be strictly enforced!

Start Saving Your Loonies, Boys
Rams … Ian Walsh will be back at work making sure nobody in the NHL skates faster than Mike Maneluk, which means the 2005-2006 campaign at Wintersport is looking to be a great season. Bernie has spoken with Pat Croce (no, not that Pat) at the rink and it seems Pat’s got his shizzle together. He’s created a structure where there are loads of discounts for getting in and paid. If we’re registered by August 24, we get $300 off the total and a free hour of ice. If we’re fully paid by Sept. 25, we get an additional $700 off. That’s a team savings of a $1,000. That’s almost $70 a man. Which is like 72 labatt’s cans for free per guy.
Anyway, for now, it’s looking like $400/man for the 21 game season. That’s with 15 full timers. We can roster 20, so we can carry some subs. Payment on the sub-plan is TBA.
Start saving your loonies, boys.
Let me know what your plans are and I’ll have a payment schedule for everyone soon. We will also be getting jerseys this year.

Odds Long for Philadelphia Man in Mini-triathalon
![]()
Las Vegas - Vegas oddsmakers today announce that Mark Jenkins, owner of the local Kensington Horsehoes plant, is a 400-1 shot for winning the mini-triathalon at the shore saturday.
Mark didn't seem too down about that. "I learned how to swim when I was a kid. Biking, too. And I like to run from the cops occasionally, so I feel good."
What Jenkins doesn't feel good about are his odds of suffering myocardialinfarction, or a heart attack.
Sports Radio 610 this mornining reported that oddsmakers are taking 3 to 1 odds that Jenkins has a heart attack and dies during the swim.
"that's been a concern of mine," said Jenkins from his make-shift office, "ever since I started training in Montreal this past April."
For anyone wanting to wish Markus good will or ill, details for the triathlon are here (I think).

LD50

Unless a person has developed a high tolerance, a BAC (blood alcohol content)rating of 0.20 represents very serious intoxication (most first-time drinkers would be passed out by about 0.15), and 0.35 represents potentially fatal alcohol poisoning. 0.40 is the accepted LD50, or lethal dose for 50% of adult humans.

Happy Bastille Day
Sure we have our share of fun with the French, because they're so... well, French! But Happy Bastille day, the remembrance of a day a revolution began in France that turned the streets red with blood. So do something French, eat some cake, have some wine and brie, surrender. Whatever you feel best celebrates the day.
On Saturday however, check out Philadelphia's Bastille Day celebration at Eastern State Penitentiary near the Art Museum.
Philadelphia's Bastille Day Celebration kicks off with a kitschy reenactment of the storming of the Bastille, complete with Marie Antoinette's famous let them eat cake quote. This brings a rain of Tastykakes down from the ramparts on the peasants below. After that fun, partake in a freshly guillotined watermelon and enjoy the neighborhood street party with booths selling Kronenbourg and Moet and Chandon Specials! Plus sausage sandwiches as well as live music.

Yo! Black Door!
The Black Door Aims To Be A Philadelphia "Good Beer" Destination
Hey a friend of mine is officially opening his new bar this Friday. I was beaten senseless by some Belgians last Friday at the soft opening, so I'm looking to extract my revenge on the Leffes this week. So if you like half-priced Belgian beers (and I have a feeling you do) come on down to Second and Bainbridge this Friday night at 6pm. I'll probably need some muscle or mussels with these Belgians.

MURPHY'S WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
Murphy's, until now best known for its ability to injure Rams players who fill in for them, has turned the hockey world on its ear. Always respected more for their drinking than their playing, Murphy's needed to win its final regular season game just to qualify for the playoffs. Having accomplished that step Murphy's won six of seven playoff games, knocking off the top three seeds en route to the Wintersport Cup. Patient team hockey and exceptional goaltending were keys as the upstart Murphy's squad mowed down the competition in the playoffs. Congratulations to Murphy's on their big accomplishment and head on down to Murphy's in East Falls tonight to eat some wings and drink some beers with P.J., Rock, Art, Kevin? and all the rest of the Murphy's crew.

PhiladelphiaRams.com Voted Best Hockey Site
Roxborough – The PR department awoke to good news this morning at Philadelphia Rams headquarters. It seems, despite the rams lackluster play at times, the team has caught the attention of hockey-starved fans with its website, www.philadelphiarams.com.
After the Rams convincing 5-0 win over St. Joe’s last night, the first shutout win since sliced bread regained its popularity, the team celebrated double as Robbie Mell proclaimed “philadelphiarams.com is my new favorite hockey site.”
His sentiments are echoed by the competition, too, as Jeff Conybear of the Penguins said “Hey what’s your web address? I hear it’s funny stuff,” in an email last week.
A hit with diehard fans since its inception in September 2004, the site’s greatest hits include a goalie pad fund for Kevin (the Rams raised $.25 from a modest and undisclosed philanthropist), the much anticipated Zdaldo name change, commercials for Can/Am Montreal, and most recently an announcement for the new NHL, advertising for dime bags, and a titillating announcement about winger Corey “Playboy” Abrams going on the DL.
Watch for more exicitng stories about Carter bringing a 30-pack of Miller Lite next week.

Zdaldo the newest Jayhawk groupie?
Willow Grove, Pa — At the height of the Wintersport Cup Mens League playoff season, all eyes have turned away from the ice. It seems league superstar and general podiatric oddity, Zdaldo has announced that he is retiring and moving to Lawrence, Kansas to pursue his true love: Co-ed Wannabe Swimsuit Models.
Zdaldo agent, Jerry Mcguire – who also fell in love at “hello” with a recent calendar featuring the Women of KU — announced today that he and Zdaldo will “move operations to Lawrence.” In his address, McGuire sited “tits, ass, and fresh meat every year” as the main factor. “Not to mention,” he continued “that Zdaldo is growing tired of blasting slapshots from the left wing past unworthy goalies.”

NHL Out, Rams In

Philadelphia – The Philadelphia Rams, on hiatus since January 19th when the NHL owners and players union picked up negotiations in earnest, will resume their regular season play Saturday verse the Stealth.
“We have a lot of players whose careers are up in the air,” said team rep Dean Kline from his plush office atop Rams Tower. “And we didn’t want to burden them with the distraction of our games during the final stages of NHL negotiation.”
Now, however, the NHL season is kaput. And the Rams are eager to get back on the ice. Focused.
“We’re 5-9-1 right now, poised for an amazing run at the WMCL championship,” added Kline. “Once the Bandits and Zebras forfeit the rest of their games, and we beat the tar out of stealth, we’re sitting pretty.”
On tap for beer duty this weekend are Dave Kratzer for Saturday, Corey Abrams for Sunday. Much appreciated.
Also, remember a few extra coins for the rink. We’re about $35 a player short.

Lagerheads Announce Roster for Montreal
Roxborough — It’s one of the most tense moments in every athletes career: Final cut day. Oh, the horror.
“Did I make it?” The question, and ensuing anxiety loom large. Sleepless nights. Sweaty palms. Urine soaked couches the result of self medicating with beer and liquor. But today, at least for some, the jitters, the nerves, the butterflies are all replaced with relief … the feeling that comes from a hard day’s work on the ice and in the bar. Because today, the Lagerheads (les tetes de biere) Front office has released its roster for the Can/Am hockey tournament in Montreal. Much debated and heavily scrutinized by out-of-work NHL analysts, the roster is fit and trim … even if the players aren’t.

Donate to the Kevin Dowell Goalie Pads Fund
It's always sad to see someone go without, especially during the Holiday Season. With this in mind the Philadelphia Rams are collecting money so goaltender Kevin Dowell can get new goalie pads. Kevin is a decent goalie but lets face it, his pads are struggling. Imagine a world where Kevin had new pads.- Kevin would no longer be embarrassed, begging for extra skate laces just to keep his pads on.
- His wife would no longer go without floss because Kevin needed it stitch up the knees.
- Dowell household duct tape would be used just for ducts.
- Kevin might make a good pad save.

Rams Getting Raz’d for Sunday’s Contest
Glenside — In a sparsely attended news conference at Ludwigs Antiques in Glenside, Rams brass today announced a goalie change for Sunday’s 7:20 pm game against the Shamrocks.
Kevin Dowell, the usual protector of the twine, is out. In is Richard “Raz” Risley, a wiley veteran of the Wissahickon Hoagie Brothers Pick Up league in Chestnut Hill.
“Raz has a lot of spark, and he’s great in the room” said the Rams public relations director. “I just hope nobody calls him a tree hugger like Jenkins did.”
The Rams sit in third place in the eastern conference of the Wintersport Mens Cup A/B League. A win Sunday will push them 2 more points ahead of the shamrocks, and help them gain ground on the Penguins and Continentals. Rams face the Penguins Wednesday November 24th. The second of three meetings between the rivals who tied their first time around.

From the Front Office
Final Roster
Need photocopy IDs from Terry, Jamie, Morasco, Ryan, Rock.Dues
Everyone should be at $250 except Colin and Terry. If you’re not, please bring your check to game Sunday. Bernie and Dean are trying to get a total count on how much our balance should be with the rink. The rink has not listed the checks that were mailed in individually. If you mailed your checks to the rink, please email Bernie and let him know how much you paid. We’ll compare our numbers with theirs.Jerseys
It’s looking like $30-$35 for each. I think right now we only need white. But we should have both if we are planning to go to Montreal (more on that next week.) If you don’t want to or can’t buy a jersey, bring a plain white jersey and Bernie will slap some numbers on it for a few bucks. An email is being sent. Please reply with your size and number.

Dildo Celebration on Hold. Aldo to Play Sunday.
Glenside – In a strange twist of astronomical events Friday, the brother duo of Dildo and Aldo (known to some as Zdaldo) have found their Sunday plans changed back to the way they were before. It’s almost as if Superman is flying around the world counterclockwise.
It seems Mr. and Mrs. Aldo (The Maldo’s) changed the date of Dildo’s birth, thus nullifiying the celebration scheduled for Sunday. Rams fans rejoiced near the Glenside Train station as Aldo will be able to suit up for the tilt against the Zebras.
