Woeful Flyers

Surgery awaits pair of Flyers

A clinical examination of Flyers winger Geoff Sanderson yesterday at Hahnemann University Hospital showed what his MRI exam did not - a torn muscle in his abdomen.
Sanderson and center Mike Richards will have abdominal surgery this morning and miss three to six weeks, Flyers trainer Jim McCrossin said.

Two Much

This season's first Ovechkin-Crosby meeting generated lots of buzz, but Scott Burnside writes the super-sophomores story will soon take a back seat to their teams' playoff hopes.

Kessel leaves Bruins, but not for 'nefarious activities'

Bruins rookie Phil Kessel left the team's lineup indefinitely Monday for a medical condition "not related to hockey," his family said in a statement released by the team.
But a source familiar with the situation told ESPN.com on Monday that the forward's condition does not involve drugs or alcohol and more information about Kessel's condition will likely be available by the end of the week.
"It has nothing to do with any nefarious activities," the source said.
