Pens Reject Cuban-Marino Offer
Penguins reportedly reject Cuban-Marino group's bid
The Pittsburgh Penguins have rejected a bid to buy the team that was put together by a group including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and former NFL quarterback Dan Marino.
New York financier Andrew Murstein, who was backing the bid, says the group increased its offer to more than $170 million Friday, which was as high as the group intended to go.
Kings sign controversial Avery
Controversial forward Sean Avery is returning the Los Angeles Kings. The L.A. Times reported on Monday that Avery agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Kings, allowing both sides to avoid arbitration.
Oilers re-sign Craig MacTavish
The Edmonton Oilers have locked up coach Craig MacTavish to a four-year contract extension.
Ryder gets truckload of money from Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens avoided salary arbitration with forward Michael Ryder by giving him a big raise Sunday, signing their top goalscorer to a one-year deal worth $2.2 million.
