Thornton Wins Scoring Title, Cheecho the Glen Murray Award
Thrilling end to NHL regular season
Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo of the San Jose Sharks were the biggest winners on the final day of the regular season. So were the red-hot New Jersey Devils.
Thornton capped the finest season of his pro career by capturing the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring champion with 125 points, two more than Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers, who also finished two goals behind Cheechoo for the Rocket Richard Trophy as top sniper.
Next Leafs coach may already be in town
Many in hockey believe that Paul Maurice will be the next coach of the Leafs.
He isn't one of them.
"One of the reasons I came here was because Pat Quinn was a brilliant coach," Maurice said. "You don't replace a Cadillac with a Volkswagen."
Maurice is hardly a compact when it comes to coaching. His resume shows nine seasons of NHL experience behind the bench of the Carolina Hurricanes, taking the team to the 2002 Stanley Cup final.

Blackhawks finish with OT win over Blues
Kyle Calder scored at 3:20 of overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night as two of the NHL's worst teams concluded their seasons. Calder netted the game-winner for the second straight contest, beating Jason Bacashihua from right wing. Radim Vrbata and Dustin Byfuglien scored for the Blackhawks, who finished the season with two straight wins, but just three in their last 10. Timofei Shishkanov and Scott Young scored for St.
