Sorry Brash, Gay is Fun
To put this into proper context, the last time five or more players potted 100 points or 50 goals in a season was the 1995-96 season, when 12 players had over 100 points and seven netted 50 or more goals.
And no, it's not because the goaltending is now worse. The top ten goalies (with 20 or more games) as of this writing have GAAs that run from 2.09 to 2.51 and save percentages ranging from .929 to .915. In 1995-96, the range was 2.17 to 2.74 for GAA and .920 to .910 for SP.
That's the best proof needed that the new rule changes to open up offense are working, but not at the expense of the league's top goaltenders. It's allowing the best players to be the best players, unhampered by the uncalled obstruction that robbed the league of its excitement throughout most of the last ten years.

I think the refs are a little whistle happy. They call people for checking all the time. They need to allow for big hits.
