Bad game happens. Just happens more often to bad goalies. My view of goaltending is unless you have a top five guy you should just ride the hot goaltender you do have. Does this mean that I prefer to ride a hot goaltender who has no history of success? no, but the flyers don’t really have a choice (no prospects, no draft picks to trade combined with a “win now” philosophy as evidenced by the Pronger trade that doesn’t really allow for a trade of a top six forward or top 4 defenseman -most have no trade clauses anyway – thanks to our GM). Besides, what playoff contending team ever trades a top 6 Off or top 4 Def for a goalie upgrade at the deadline? Doesn’t make sense.

Until the flyers draft and develop a top 5-ish goalie, they will continue to have goaltending issues. But how many times has the leagues best regular season goalie actually won the cup?

And last night was an atrocious defenseive game by the flyers (thought Leighton should have had at least one of those two five hole goals).
