For Sharks, it will take a championship effort

Down 3-2 in a best-of-seven playoff series and playing Game 6 on the road, the Sharks are in a bad spot. But four times in recent years, a team has faced the same predicament and ended up winning the Stanley Cup.

Toskala hardly startled by start

Sharks goalie Vesa Toskala didn’t get the news that he would be starting tonight’s Game 6 until Tuesday, when reporters told him. “This is the first I’ve heard of it,” Toskala said when asked his reaction to the strong vote of confidence delivered Monday by Coach Ron Wilson.

Dwayne Roloson has made 139 saves for the Edmonton Oilers in their series against the San Jose Sharks.
And his best have come when the Oilers needed them most.
It’s one of the big reasons the Oilers are up 3-2 in the series.
“He’s played exceptionally well,” said Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish. “You talk about our penalty killing, but it’s been our goaltending as well. You don’t have a chance without good goaltending. He’s given us that each and every night.”
