Perhaps by Thursday night, when the Mighty Ducks will have an opportunity to sweep the Colorado Avalanche out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Pepsi Center public-address announcer will have learned how to pronounce Joffrey Lupul’s first name.
Lupul, a.k.a. “Jeffrey” in these parts, turned in a career night, scoring all four Ducks goals, including the winner 16:30 into overtime, as the Ducks beat Colorado, 4-3, to take a 3-0 series lead in their Western Conference semifinal.

Avs can’t close Lupul

The Colorado Avalanche received some home support Tuesday night during Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal playoff series at the Pepsi Center. Anaheim’s Joffrey Lupul scored four goals, including the winner in overtime, as the Mighty Ducks won to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Game 4 is Thursday.

Glory days now distant memory

The banners of the golden age of hockey in Colorado now gather dust in the arena. It’s all over for the Avalanche except the wistful tears of nostalgia. Look toward the ceiling of the Pepsi Center and wonder where the good times went.
