Lindros sporting a new cast on injured wrist

Eric Lindros says he will know in two weeks time whether or not surgery is required for his injured right wrist.
The Maple Leafs foward unveiled a new cast following practice in Calgary on Wednesday which he hopes will help the damaged ligament heal on its own.
“I’m told the cast will stay on for two weeks,” said Lindros. “Hopefully, it heals on its own and we won’t have to worry about alternative ways to deal with it.”

Malkin stands in Canada’s way for gold at world juniors

According to NHL scouts, Malkin, 19, has been the best player at this year’s world juniors. He possesses a scoring touch, excellent playmaking ability, physical presence and exemplary vision.
The Canadian defensive pair of Ryan Parent and Marc Staal will be matched against Malkin, who has 10 points in five games. But Russia is the home team – based on its better goal differential – and will have the final line change.
