Comcast and the NHL

comcast.gifComcast, NHL on verge of 2-year, $100 million deal
Comcast has officially submitted a proposal to televise NHL games. Games would probably be broadcast on Comcast’s OLN network as Comcast is looking at strengthening the sports content on the network. Comcast is also looking at adding Thursday night NFL games to the network next year. With Comcast looking to follow the FOX philosophy of legitimacy by getting the NHL and then the NFL, there will be pressure on ESPN as they see their first real competition in years. ESPN will have the right to match the Comcast deal.
